Bluebonnet Season Is Upon Us In Georgetown, TX, And The Hill Country!

It’s that time of year when Texans everywhere — and especially in and around Georgetown and throughout the Hill Country — anxiously await the first sightings of our state flower, The Bluebonnet! Soon, fields of intense blue flowers will cause us to stop our cars, grab our kids and grandkids, and welcome these precious gifts from nature that herald the arrival of springtime.

The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin has released its forecast for 2014 predicting a “good wildflower season”. Peaks this year will likely be later than the last several years due to the unusually cold winter, so don’t be disappointed if the bluebonnets save their best performances for the second week of April.

Great places for “oohing” and “ahhing” in the Texas Hill Country include towns such as Fredericksburg, Wimberley, Kerrville, Burnet, Marble Falls, Llano, and Kingsland — all have bluebonnet festivals or trails during the spring. If you’re looking for a scenic drive, consider the renowned Willow City Loop just north of Fredericksburg, TX – be sure to set aside a couple of hours due to the heavy traffic.

Also, mark your calendar and save the date for The Georgetown TX Red Poppy Festival coming to the Downtown Square on the weekend of April 26 & 27, 2014! Featuring over 100 artisans from across the nation, the Open Car Show, the Kids Zone, Live Entertainment and the Saturday Night Concert and Street Dance!
